Now that the idea is a go, as I work on the shot list a new....lets say obstacle comes up. In order to get the shots I want, no the shots I need I have to find a way to get ahold of some very good equipment. I need a 10 foot jib arm and dolly with tracks. This equipment will give the video its $100,000 look. And of course the camera. Right now the plan is to shoot with the Canon 5D which is an amazing camera, however because of resent developments and shoots I have been on and contacts I have created there is a possibility of shooting the video with the RED camera which is one of if not the premiere digital camera in the world. Now knowing what you need is the easy part, acquiring the money to  get this equipment is a whole show in its self. My team and I have to try and find sponsors and investors for the video. This is the list of things we have to consider that require some kind of money out into them. Location fees, jib rental, dolly rental, hiring of a professional gaffer (the person who lights the shoot) hiring of the RED operator and rental of the RED, rental fog machine and last but not least food for all the cast and crew. So needless to say its quite the list that we have to take care of.  This is the next step that needs to be taken in order to even begin to shoot the video.

Donations are welcomed :)

The idea I have for the music video has been approved by "Los Pilotos" now its full speed ahead.  My DP (director of photography) and I visited the main location we plan to shoot at, looked at the logistics and are on the same page. The most important thing is that me and him are on the same page and that when it comes to shooting day we both know exactly what I want, which means what angle, how wide or tight the shot has to be, and how to light it properly being prepared allows us to be quick and efficient. when we were meeting he asked me for "Look alike videos" which means he wanted me to find videos with similar texture and color to what I want in my video so he as a DP can start visualizing and preparing for the shoot. I delivered those to him so the next step is to get a shot list done so him and I can again look into the logistics on each shot. This is gonna be a complicated shoot because we have 3 locations and only 2 days to do them in the 27th and the 1st of december but with the right preparation, the amazing crew I have secured for my shooting dates, the great talent of the girl in the video, and of course the great talent of the band it should be an amazing experience. Its all about doing your homework and being ready for anything that might come your way.

if you wanna come check out the band, the play every thursday night at 9pm at El Callejon Bar located at 1860 The Alameda San Jose CA 95112 above the "el Palenque restaurant". there is no cover at the door.

Now that I have all my locations secure for my shoot on November 27th and December 1st I can continue on with the creative process almost exclusively (I say almost because I still need to rent the equipment and organize my crew of 11 people) Tonight I have a meeting with the Band and the Girl who will be in the video to pitch and explain to them the concept I have for the video. After explaining to them the concept I have to go over the script in detail, find out what parts of the song will be shot at which locations, and after that I need to storyboard my shots and make a shot list because when we get to a location we have to be quick, good, and effective no time to loose. I have to know exactly what I want and how I want my shot until that becomes second nature. So I can effectively deal with anything else that might come up. Again here is a little taste of "Los Pilotos"  Enjoy!

The process of making a video

Today I had a pre-production with all the crew, the Director, Producer , Co-Director, Director of Photography, Gaffers , Grips and Production Stills Photographer. this meeting is supposed to be so we are all on the same page and work out all the possible mishaps that could occur, we did our best but like in any other shoot things will come up on the spot and we will have to deal with them when they happen.

As for my up coming music video Im in the process of securing the location me and my Director of Photography want.   After many auditions and careful consideration I booked the girl for the video who will be on camera with the band. next step after securing location is to make a shot list to see what equipment we need to make the video properly.
